The Overseas Attachment Programme is an opportunity for students to widen their perspective of the working world. It enhances their employability and career mobility worldwide upon graduation and prepares them to compete locally and internationally.
NTU collaborates with industry and/or university partners in Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, and United States to offer the students the unique learning experience of gaining real life overseas working experience under professional guidance as part of their undergraduate programmes.
Who can apply?
Year 2 or 3 students who have met the pre-requisites for attachment in their respective degree programmes.
How to apply?
Every year Career & Attachment Office (CAO) contacts suitable overseas organisations to source for overseas placements. NTU also has exchange programmes with some overseas universities. Under such exchange programmes, the overseas universities will assist to find suitable placements for our students in their countries.
These placements are announced to students during the attachment registration and selection period for their respective degree programmes. Interested students should submit applications according to the instructions given then.
Allowance, travel and living expenses
Students on overseas attachment are usually paid a monthly allowance/stipend by the company, which is guided by prevailing norms within the industry in the country of attachment,
Airfare, accommodation, insurance (medical / personal accident / travel) and other expenses (e.g. meals, transportation etc) are normally borne by the students.
Students who need financial assistance for their overseas attachment can apply for the Overseas Student Exchange Programme (OSEP) Loan.
The maximum loan amount varies depending on the country of attachment. The loan is interest free and repayment will only commence 3 months upon graduation.
The OSEP Loan is administered by the Office of Admissions and Financial Assistance (OAFA).
