Joint Programmes 

Strong international relationships and collaboration with leading international institutions are hallmarks of our university. Our global partners are crucial in the university's efforts to become a global university of excellence.

International collaborative efforts between NTU and overseas educational institutions have led to dual/joint degree programmes. Students are able to study under faculty from both universities and also attend classes at both campuses. Some such programmes offered by NTU include Singapore-MIT Alliance, Singapore-Stanford Partnership, Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management, Singapore-University of Washington Alliance in Bioengineering and Financial Engineering with Carnegie Mellon University.

Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA)

The Singapore-MIT Alliance is an innovative engineering education and research collaboration among three of the top engineering research universities in the world: Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Degree programmes offered under SMA are as follows:

  • Advanced Materials for Micro- and Nano-Systems (AMM&NS)
  • Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering (CPE)
  • The Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering (CPE)
  • Computation and Systems Biology (CSB)

Singapore Stanford Partnership (SSP)

The Singapore Stanford Partnership (SSP) is a joint effort between NTU's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Stanford's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to establish a Singapore-based premier graduate education and research programme in environmental engineering.

The SSP offers

  • NTU Master of Science (MS) degrees in Environmental Science & Engineering. It is a one year programme with the first quarter in residence at Stanford.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Environmental Science & Engineering. It requires approximately four years of study beyond the Masters level with three quarters of residence at Stanford.

Joint MSc (Integrated circuit design) programme with Technical University of Munich

The international Master of Science programme in Integrated Circuit Design is jointly offered by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Germany’s Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM).

The programme involves a nine-week internship with an industrial company (usually in Singapore or Germany) with the Master's thesis consisting of a one-semester project related to leading-edge research, which may be undertaken either at NTU in Singapore or at TUM in Munich, or in a company under the supervision of the faculty staff.

Cornell - Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI)

The world's leading hospitality management school has joined with one of the elite business schools in Asia to offer the following programmes:

  • Master of Management in Hospitality: The twelve-month MMH degree program at the Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management is a truly international experience, with six months of study in each of Singapore and Ithaca, New York.
  • PhD in Hospitality Management: Successful applicants will pursue their studies at Cornell University, an Ivy-League institution located in Ithaca, New York, while receiving financial and tuition support from CNI and Cornell University.

Double MBA degree with ESSEC

This exclusive to Nanyang MBA participants taking up General MBA or the specialised MBA in Marketing. Students will have the opportunity to earn two Masters degrees simultaneously - an MBA from ESSEC and an MBA from Nanyang Technological University. Participants will spend their first two trimesters in NTU (commencing in July) before going to ESSEC in April for a year of full-time study.

Double MBA degree with St. Gallen

This exclusive programme offers students the opportunity to earn two Masters Degrees simultaneously – Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specialisation in Strategy or General MBA by NTU; and Master of Arts in Strategy & International Management by St Gallen. Participants will spend their first trimester at NTU (commencing in July) before going to St. Gallen in October for a year of full-time study.

This one year full time (part time available for a longer duration) joint programme between NTU and Waseda University, a premier Japanese institution in research and technology offers a Double MBA in Management of Technology.

Successful candidates are awarded two Masters Degrees - an MBA from Nanyang Technological University and an MBA in Technology Management from Waseda University.

Berkeley-Nanyang advanced management programme

The Berkeley-Nanyang Advanced Management Programme (BNAMP) is a joint initiative between Haas School of Business (Haas), University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley), USA, and Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

The BNAMP is an intensive four-week residential, full-time programme conducted annually at Haas and NBS. Two weeks of the Programme is conducted at Haas and two weeks at NBS. The BNAP provides participants credits to earn the Nanyang Executive MBA (EMBA) Degree.

The NTU-SJTU Joint Executive MBA (EMBA) Programme helps students better understand China by incorporating Chinese culture and tradition into the syllabus. The course is up-to-date and well integrated with Chinese economics.

MSc in Financial Engineering in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University

The Master of Science in Financial Engineering programme offered by the Nanyang Business School is a highly rigorous programme. It challenges and builds the intellect while at the same time prepares participants for practical use of advanced financial techniques in the industry.

Our collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, USA, brings financial practices in the east and west live to the classrooms. Graduates of this programme can look forward to taking on very challenging careers in the areas of risk management, quantitative asset management, product structuring, quantitative trading, quantitative research, financial information technology as well as other areas in high-technology finance.

Bachelor of Accountancy with University of Illinois

This is arguably the most established and well-regarded Bachelor of Accountancy programme in Singapore and the region. Partnering the top US Accounting programme at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (ranked number one for 20 consecutive years), we train professional accountants for leadership roles as partners in accounting firms, chief financial officers of major corporations and managing directors of public and private enterprises.

Joint graduate diploma programme with University of Washington

The Technopreneurship & Innovation Program (TIP) is a 4-month full-time graduate diploma programme, jointly conducted by NTU and the University of Washington (UW) Department of Bioengineering. TIP is a rigorous fast-paced entrepreneurial program of study and real life experiences.

TIP picks out individuals with the passion and innate drive for entrepreneurship and provides them with the knowledge and experience they need to launch new products or businesses in today's competitive marketplace. It prepares the participants for entrepreneurship by developing their managerial and technical business skills, their base of corporate contacts, and the experience and confidence that will help them to succeed in their endeavours.

Dual bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences and Medicine with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

This unique double degree programme consists of three years of study at NTU's School of Biological Sciences, followed by two years of study at the renowned Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM). It will see the conferment of two degrees – a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Sciences by NTU and a Bachelor of Medicine (majoring in Traditional Chinese Medicine) by BUCM. Eu Yan Sang is offering three scholarships of S$10,000 a year for the final two years of study at BUCM. The scholarships are open to undergraduates who have completed the first two years of the double degree programme at NTU.

MSc programme in Maritime Studies with Norwegian school of Management

This programme, conducted jointly by NTU and the Norwegian School of Management (BI), provides an avenue for higher training for young graduates and middle-management executives working in shipping-related areas. The MSc programme enables participants to gain a deeper understanding of key topics related to the maritime business such as shipping management, shipping economics and shipping and transport logistics.

The Master of Science (Maritime Studies) programme produces high calibre and talented graduates to play leading roles in fulfilling Singapore’s vision to be an internationally renowned maritime hub.

Dual MSc program in Human-factors Engineering with Linkoping University

Human factors deal with matching jobs, systems, products and environments to the physical and mental abilities of people. Participants in this programme will graduate with two Master of Science degrees - one awarded by NTU and another by Linkoping University. Linkoping is one of Sweden’s top universities. It has a graduate school which focuses solely on human-machine interaction and has the largest human-factors programme in Europe. Full-time students can do the course in a year, while those doing it part-time have about two years. Among the topics they will cover are ergonomics, product development and systems design. NTU students doing the course can also opt to spend a semester in Sweden on an exchange programme.
